EESIFLO extends its liquid applications
for the EASZ-1 water concentration in
oil monitor.
Testing of hydraulic oil, lubrication
oil, fuel, phosphate esters and low dielectric
fluids at different temperatures. Testing
liquids with two different dependencies
to ascertain concentration levels.
Water contamination in oil lines presents
a major problem for industries all over
the globe for ship managers, steel plant
operators, paper mills, power plants
and various petrochemical and oil and
gas operators. The EASZ-1 has proven
to be a critical element for operators
wishing to know the water concentration
in engines, hydraulic lines, lubrication
systems and fuel lines.

Water can exist in a flowing oil process
line but many a time an increase in concentration
cannot be seen. An oil that has a larger contamination
level can be visually inspected, the oil may
appear cloudy or simply a different colour
shade.

|
A common practice
in major industries for many years has
been the taking spot samples, the crudest
methods involve visual inspection and
possibly crackle tests. A company with
a serious oil analysis program will
timetable regular samples to be taken
to independent laboratories for analysis.
For low ppm water concentration analysis,
the use of a Karl Fischer device may
be deemed necessary.
Although laboratory instruments obviously
have their place in oil analysis, it
is important to recognize that they
cannot be completely relied upon to
determine the water content in a flowing
oil stream. This is simply because the
actual sample taken is an extremely
small representation of the total oil
flowing in the process at one particular
time, i.e any sample taken is never
going to be real time representation
of the total flowing stream. |
A good
analogy would be one of the environmental
scientist who is checking for pollution
levels in a contaminated river.
One tiny sample taken at one spot
of the river would be completely thrown
out as unscientific or unrealiable to
determine the pollution level of the
stream.
The scientist would want to take samples
at different times and in different
locations.
The more samples, the more accurate
a determination could be made and hence
the report more conclusive. |

EASZ-1 online oil sampling
The
EASZ-1 online water in oil monitor is
a device that is sampling water concentration
levels every second of the day.
It has the ability to measure water
levels that cannot be seen by the naked
eye e.g 60ppm water cannot be identified
by by visual inspection. It also has
the ability to determine higher contamination
levels up to 250,000 ppm or 25%.
The sensor is not damaged or destroyed
by water contamination and can easily
be retrofitted into any water removal
system or purifier .

In a continuing effort to extend the applications
on the EASZ-1 water oil concentration meter,
EESIFLO International has committed itself
to the task of building a database of test
results with compatible liquids of varying
dependancies over different temperature ranges
and conditions. This additional type of testing
allows us to experiment with phenomena seen
in real life conditions. For example, water
and oil may not completely mix readily in
a large process stream unless the water is
completely dissolved in the oil. This can
be proven with the testing of water in oil
with and without inline static mixers.
This means that there is the possibility
of many users who have a reasonably dry oil
but at the same time the presence of free
water which could appear intermittently. The
free water may not be picked up by other monitoring
instruments in time. In a running plant, the
presence free water can wreak havoc on expensive
key components of a system including bearings
and mechanical metal to metal elements causing
damage and possibly complete shutdown. Several
EESFLO clients have faced this particular
problem even though they were carrying out
extensive oil analysis regimes.
Their oil analysis program was deemed unreliable
due to the fact that the contamination happened
between spot sampling periods and the root
problems went unidentified until equipment
actually failed to operate. The addition of
the EASZ-1 water in oil concentration meter
enabled them to monitor build up of moisture
or the presence of free water in real time
as added insurance and equipped them with
the ability to take preventative action before
it was too late.

The
EASZ-1 water in oil sensor is currently
manufactured in stainless steel 1 and
2 inch versions and currently in the
process of receiving full ATEX certification
EEx ia IIb T4 for hazardous areas.
EESIFLO International Pte Ltd is an
ISO 9001:2000 company. Each invidual
unit is manufactured to the highest
quality and tested/calibrated before
shipment.
We commit to fast deliveries with normal
lead times of 2-3 days for EASZ-1 to
any location in the world.
The EASZ-1 water oil concentration
meter comes as a stand alone unit with
selectable ranges and the option of
a remote display or pre-programmed PLC
for special applications.
Calibration can either be performed
at EESIFLO International or on site
