Several manufacturing processes produce hydrocarbon wastes that contain highly variable amounts of water. Some of these industries could be refineries, chemical plants, metal finishing plants , steel plants or pharamaceutical factories. This waste material is usually collected in waste tanks (or slop tanks) and treated on a batch basis. The goal of the treatment is to break hydrocarbon and water emulsion to the free phase hydrocarbon and water, then remove all the water possible from the hydrocarbon. The recovered water is usually sent to wastewater treatment or other internal recycling facilities. In some cases the oil can be used again in other processes or serve some other economical purpose. The EASZ-1 water monitor with a separate or integral static mixer some point near the tank outlet has a 4-20 mA output corresponding to water content of the oil which can be wired to an alarm relay or controller to open or close isolation valves accordingly. Operators can choose a set point for this to occur. The EASZ-1 water in oil transmitter is fully certified for use in hazardous areas and complies to ATEX and IECEx requirements. The IP66 rated transmitter is manufactured completely in all 316 stainless steel and suitable for use in harsh environments. The transmitter/mechanical system can be supplied in sizes ranging from 1 to 48 inches with a wide selection of screwed or flanged connections.
