OHSAS 18001 is the Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series for health and safety management systems. It is intended to help an organization control occupational health and safety risks. It was developed in a cooperative manner by leading international standards organizations in response to widespread demand for a recognized standard against which to be certified and assessed. While the standard does not contain specific performance requirements, it does include requirements for commitment to the management of hazards and risks, as well as compliance with regulatory requirements.  All employees are committed to identifying and reporting safety concerns and are involved in implementing solutions for any potential hazard.
