It came to our attention that some
of our clients had a need to purchase portable clamp
on flowmeters to measure various pipes of different
sizes in plants with different flow make ups. One
such client, a pulp and paper company,s approached
EESIFLO with a problem that they had to measure both
clean and dirty liquids within the plant. The clean
liquids were excellent applications for transit time
clamp on meters e.g measurement of white, green and
black liquor. Having information on the viscosities
and densities of these liquids we were able to program
parameters into a transit time meter for the proper
flow profile correction. The other applications were
slurries and pipes full of pulp fibres. It was important
to measure these to ascertain whether he existing
electromagnetic meters needed calibration, so a Doppler
meter was necessary to perform checks on flow rates
of these medias for preventative maintenance purposes.
Almost all of the pipes being measured were metallic
and a large percentage of them were located in difficult
to access areas i.e. they were high up or in a tight
spot. The users wanted a simple solution and recommend
the use of hand held devices that could be carried
in small pouches which they would hang over their
shoulders. This was an excellent application for two
of EESIFLO’s hand held devices being the EASZ-10P
and EASZ-10FP.
The EASZ-10FP is a hand held true Doppler flowmeter
with one sensor that can be mounted on a pipe using
fixing chains or magnetic mounts. It weighs only
a few pounds and has been designed to measure applications
such as pulps, slurries of all kinds, sludge and
raw sewage. It measures volumetric flow rates in
most metric and imperial units and simply requires
the user to input the pipe internal diameter to
measure the flow rate in a pipe.
A fixed version with analog and pulse outputs is
also available for input voltages of 110 VAC or
220 VAC. The unit is battery operated and a good
charge will have it running for the whole day or
more.
The EASZ-10FP is hand held TRANSIT TIME portable
ultrasonic flowmeter. It is also lightweight and
can be supplied with sensors for small or large
pipes. Normally only one sensor type is necessary
to fit most ranges in an industrial setting. The
EASZ-10FP is sold as a complete kit including a
battery powered hand held transmitter receiver unit,
sensors, thickness probe, sound speed verification
block, analog output cable, downloading cable ,
software, carry pouch and a waterproof protective
case.
Since both meters are compact and lightweight,
they can be easily fitted into one transport case.
These meters can be sold as a complete kit (Doppler
and Transit time) to the more experienced users
of clamp on flowmeters who know when it is best
to use which technology in manifold applications.
