In-line Moisture measurement of hydraulic, lubricating oils and fuels.

EESIFLO’s EASZ-1 moisture meter measures both moisture and free water i.e true water content in almost any oil whether mineral or synthetic. The unit has a resolution of 100ppm and a response time of 1 second. The measurement does not stop at the saturation point of the oil, it continues working despite the saturation properties of the oil. It has been designed with both the preventative maintenance in mind as well as immediate alert when a problem has occurred. The EASZ-1 is a loop powered , temperature compensated highly developed permittivity probe. Former dielectric or devices had the inherent problem of drift due to poorly designed electronics, many of them being analog devices where card recalibration is necessary. This problem has been solved by using digital processing and high quality manufactured electronic circuits and sensor cells.

The EASZ-1 cell/transmitter will monitor and report true water content in an oil. The measurement technique offers the the end user then benefits of measuring both moisture build up and free water. The outcome is total water reporting. Nothing will be missed with a response time of 1 second which we believe should be the new benchmark for sampling response time for water in oil measuring.

Online monitoring allows for real time preventative maintenance or action. Some critical devices of high value need to know when a problem has occurred immediately when it has happened, not only when a problem is probable. The EASZ-1 will instantly give data on both situations . Water can enter hydraulic and lubrication systems or fuels by atmospheric ingression of water vapour, leaks or failing water removal systems. The systems need to be checked on a regular basis through spot sampling methods and laboratory confirmation through Karl Fischer analysis but the time between sampling periods can be hours and even days or weeks. The EASZ-1’s is continually sampling your process oil once a second for water contamination in any form. The EASZ-1’s sensor cell is not a probe but a cell where the process oil is being sensed over a large volume area with a response time of 1 second.

As part of our commitment to providing quality products, each EASZ-1 water in oil transmitter is electronically calibrated and tested to perform within certain tolerances. Much care is taken during assembly and testing to ensure that each EASZ-1 that leaves production will work to within its specifications.

Water contamination of hydraulic and lubricating oils can cause serious damage to bearings and other lubricated components - often without the equipment user being aware that damage is occurring. Accountability and online monitoring are essential to the success of a well thought out water removal plan.

  • Water in oil reduces lubricating film-strength, which leaves critical surfaces vulnerable to wear and corrosion.
  • Depletes some additives and reacts with others to form corrosive by-products that attack some metals.
  • Reduces filterability and clogs filters.
  • Increases air entrainment ability.
  • Increases the likelihood of cavitation.

Left unchecked, these problems can rapidly lead to costly breakdowns. The speed with which water-induced degradation can progress, means that in many applications, water contamination of the oil is a more serious threat to equipment reliability than wear metal contamination!

EESIFLO's EASZ-1 water in oil analyzer provides early warning of any increase in water content so that corrective action can be taken. Its response time is one second and has a resolution of 100ppm and a range from 0 -10,000 ppm, 0-1%, 0-3%, 0-10% and 0-25%.

RS-485 is optional and the EESIFLO development team are working on a HART protocol addition.
